Position: Holding House Supervisor - 3rd Shift

Location: Milford, IN

Reports To: Holding House Manager

Position Duties:

  • Responsible in the scheduling of staff to daily tasks, monitor specification attainment, alert management of deviations in efficiency, quality and safety, and take corrective action as required.
  • Accountable to supervise Holding House/ truck drivers staffs to move ducks in accordance with Duck Well Being guidelines relative to density and weather constraints.
  • Responsible for hiring, evaluating, training, disciplining, and terminating Holding House staff.
  • Creating Holding House schedules and supervision of staff to follow all schedules.
  • Communicate to the L.P. Transportation Manager any irregularities observed in the Holding House such as feed motors, water lines, exhaust fans, jet fans, etc.
  • Responsible to make sure that all operating equipment such as trucks, trailers and tractors are inspected, cleaned and referred for maintenance as needed.
  • Communicate the corrective/preventative action to the Maintenance Managers as needed. Perform minor repairs as required
  • Responsible to train Holding House staff and truck washers to follow the Duck Care and Handling Guidelines.
  • Responsible to train Holding House staff of all MLF policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate the washing of trucks and trailers with Maintenance Manager.
  • Communicate effectively along lines of the chain of command, as well as with the processing plant managers and supervisors.
  • Responsible for safety meetings, disciplinary action & other supervisory tasks as needed.
  • Ensures that all DWB, and Safety policies and procedures are accomplished at high standards.
  • Responsible of ordering supplies.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Employee must have knowledge of established standard operating procedures and company policies.
  • Employee must have the ability to train staff on safety policies, DWB guidelines and biosecurity policies.
  • Employee must have the ability to operate equipment, such as tractors, bobcats, and trucks.
  • Employee must have the ability to work effectively with others; communicate along all levels & direct staff as required.
  • Employee must have the ability to solve problems related to loading and unloading ducks, equipment operation required to meet operational objectives within guidelines, company policy.
